R05 THE ALJIBE (WATER CISTERN) VIA SOLANIELLO

Circular MTB route that starts in Jaca and runs through the Lubierre and Aragon valleys, taking you to the village of Borau, before returning to Jaca along the Camino de Santiago from Castiello.

This is a route of low technical difficulty, perfect for cyclists in good physical shape who want to enjoy two long, fast, easy trails on the same trip.

You set off in a northerly direction as far as the surroundings of the Grosín peak, from where, on foot, you can visit the Aljibe (water cistern) at the top. You then follow the route in a northerly direction towards the Sierra de los Ángeles and, before starting to climb, you turn off to the left to go down the first path of the route, one of the longest in the area, which will take you to the River Lubierre, which you will have to cross with caution at times of flooding. From here you continue along the track to Borau (fountain and bar) and on tarmac to the pass of the Sierra.

From the pass you start the second descent of the route, the Castillón path, which is fast but where you have to be careful as it has a lot of loose stones that might cause you to skid.
